What is a Web Developer Really?
When I started out programming in 1992 (when I started getting paid to program) I was happy to call myself a Computer Programmer - it seemed to fit. After working on web applications for a couple of years it seemed more appropriate to call myself a Web Developer. Internet Developer, Application Developer and even a misguided time as a Chief Technologist (a self-titled role for a startup called Lemontastic).
I build websites that do things. I'm a programmer but I'm also interested in how people interact with what I build. I'm not a designer, but I like to turn my hand to making things look good and simple to use. I'm not in marketing but I'm interested in whether what I build gets the right message across.
